What to Expect at Your Visit

Low vision visits are longer and more personalized than routine eye exams. During your visit, we will:

  • Talk about your vision concerns and daily goals
  • Evaluate how your vision functions in real-world situations
  • Trial devices and strategies in-office
  • Discuss options that fit your lifestyle and comfort level

The goal is not to “fix” vision loss, but to help you function more comfortably and confidently with the vision you have.

Does a Low Vision Evaluation Replace a Comprehensive Eye Exam?

No. A Low vision evaluation does not replace a comprehensive eye exam or medical eye care.

Low vision care is rehabilitative, not medical. It does not diagnose or treat eye disease or monitor eye health.

Patients should continue regular care with their primary eye care provider or ophthalmologist for comprehensive eye exams, monitoring and treatment of eye disease, and medical or surgical treatment.

To ensure your vision is medically stable, patients must have had a comprehensive eye exam within the past 12 months prior to their low vision evaluation.

If you are unsure whether your eye exam is current, Dr. Angel can help you determine the next steps.
